Tread on tiger tail - not bitten.

Heaven above, the lake below: the image of TREADING. Thus the superior man discriminates between high and low, and thereby fixes the aims of the people.

Proceed with simple, honest conduct. No blame.

Nine second

Path smooth.

The path is level and broad. The recluse perseveres—good fortune.

Six third

One-eyed, lame - tiger bites.

A one-eyed man sees, a lame man walks. He treads on the tiger's tail and is bitten. Misfortune. This is like a warrior acting as a ruler—overreaching.

Nine fourth

Caution - fortune.

He treads on the tiger's tail. Fearful and cautious, in the end good fortune.

Nine fifth

Resolute - danger.

Resolute action. Perseverance in danger.

Review - fortune.

Look back at your deeds, examine good and ill fortune. Turning back brings great good fortune.
