Stillness. Peace.

Mountain standing on mountain: the image of KEEPING STILL. Thus the superior man does not let his thoughts go beyond his position.

Lines

Six at start

Stillness in toes - no blame.

Keeping still in the toes. No blame. Favorable for long-term perseverance — stopping in time at the very beginning of action.

Six second

Stillness in calves - cannot help. Unhappy.

Keeping still in the calves. One cannot rescue those he follows; his heart is uneasy — wanting to stop but unable to.

Nine third

Stillness in waist - tears the back.

Keeping still in the waist. The flesh of the back is torn. Danger chokes the heart.

Six fourth

Stillness in torso - no blame.

Keeping still in oneself. No blame — stopping within one's proper bounds, self-restraint.

Six fifth

Stillness in jaw - ordered words.

Keeping still in the jaws. Words are orderly. Remorse vanishes — cautious speech brings no regret.

Nine above

Noble stillness - fortune.

Stopping with a sincere and generous attitude. Good fortune — stopping at the right place, calm and dignified.
